SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELOLAND) — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley is looking to head to Washington.

Jackley told KELOLAND News Friday he is planning to run in 2026 for South Dakota’s lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Republican Dusty Johnson, of Mitchell, currently occupies the seat which will be open 2026 along with every other seat in the U.S. House.

After serving as South Dakota’s attorney general from 2009 to 2019, the 54-year-old Jackley was elected in 2022 to again serve in that role. Jackley lost to former South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem in 2018’s Republican gubernatorial primary.

Jackley has a bachelor’s degree from South Dakota Mines and a law degree from the University of South Dakota. He lives in Pierre.
