Authorities warn of law enforcement impersonation scam in Hamlin County

HAMLIN COUNTY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday that a scammer has been impersonating a deputy from its office.

According to a social media post from the sheriff’s office, the scammer has been calling people and telling them they need to discuss important legal matters or that they have an active warrant.

The sheriff’s office said this is a scam and you should not give them any personal or financial information.
