[Game 2]

SIOUX FALLS, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Smittys put to bed a losing streak dating back to early June by delivering one of the more gutsy performances of the season of ’25 down in Sioux Falls against the Sioux Falls West Post 15 squad.

In the first game of the Tuesday afternoon twinbill, both pitching staffs put together four straight innings of shutout baseball. Michael Dutenhoffer was dynamic on the bump, throwing five shutout innings before a bit of a hiccup in the sixth. He fanned five Post 15 hitters and gave his team a chance to win on the road.

However, trailing 3-2 going into the final inning of seven, the Aberdeen Smittys needed to make some noise to extend the game, and extend it they did. Aberdeen tied things up at three and took the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, the Smittys put up three to take a 6-3 lead, but SF West added three of their own to extend the game to the 9th. But on this day, the Smittys would not be denied; adding two in the top of the ninth and slamming the door in the ninth for the 8-6 win.

In relief, Jaxon Ladner picked up the win; going three and two thirds innings, while scattering seven hits and three runs, but didn’t struggle with control, walking zero and striking out one.

In game two, both offenses struggled. The two squads only combined for seven hits, although the Smittys out-hit Post 15, they’d fall in the contest 4-0. Three Smittys pitchers went six innings and walked nine batters, but also struck out four. Ridley Waldo & Karson Borge each fanned a pair of batters. On offense, Ridley Waldo provided two of the four hits, going two for three at the plate; while Joran Foss & Jehiel Aviles collected the other two hits.

The Aberdeen Smittys return home to Fossum Field on Thursday against Renner Post 307 at 4/6p on HubCityRadio.com with Ryan Martin on the call; those games & broadcasts are presented by Culvers of Aberdeen.
