Visitation is scheduled from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, June 25, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Mossman Cemetery in Ridgeview, SD, at a later date. Camille died Saturday, June 21, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Camille was born on August 30, 1940, to Camille A. Rousseau Sr. and Mildred Traversie in Bridger, SD. He attended school at St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, SD and then moved to Aberdeen, SD where he graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1959. He then attended Northern State University for a period of time before joining the Army Reserves.

On December 24, 1966, he married the love of his life, Darla Meeker in Webster, SD. He became stepfather to Darla’s son from a previous marriage, Tony, and they then went on to have two children of their own; Charles (Chuck) and Teresa (Teri).

Following Camille’s honorable discharge from the reserves, they lived in Aberdeen a short time before moving to Dakota City, NE and then to Pierre, SD where he accepted a permanent position with the Bureau of Reclamation. After the birth of their daughter, Teresa, they moved back to Aberdeen where he accepted a permanent position with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). He stayed with the BIA until his retirement in September of 2000 after giving 30 years of service to the Federal Government.

His greatest joy was attending his grandchildren’s activities and events. One of Bud’s favorite pastimes was often visiting Rohly’s bar here in Aberdeen where he would chat with friends and acquaintances over a Diet Coke. The staff and patrons there knew him very well and think of him fondly. He was an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and was known for being very proud of his Native American heritage. He took much joy in researching his ancestry and telling people about it.

Grateful for having shared Camille’s life are his wife, Darla; brother, Ronald Sieler; sons, Tony (Robin) Rousseau, Charles Rousseau, and daughter, Teresa (Richard) Galbraith; grandchildren, Darel Rousseau, Darla Rousseau, Camy Galbraith, Kyanne Galbraith and Ryan Quale; great grandchildren, Chloe, Alizabeth and Charlie.

Preceding Camille in death are his parents, Camille A. Rousseau Sr. and Mildred Traversie; brothers, Cyril “Jerry” Rousseau and Melvin “Mel” Rousseau and sister Rochelle “Shelly” Farmer.
