Water Meter Upgrade Program
The City of Aberdeen is upgrading water meters throughout the community to improve service reliability and provide you with enhanced monitoring capabilities. As part of this initiative, we will begin scheduling appointments for in-home meter installations. If you receive a notice on your door, as shown in the photos below, please call or email us to schedule your appointment within 45 days.
What You Need to Know:
- Installation Process:
- Installation will take approximately 30 minutes per home.
- The town has been divided into three zones for a systematic rollout. If you receive a notice, we are replacing water meters in your zone. Please call or email the City of Aberdeen Public Works Department within 45 days at 605-626-2021 or email meterdivision@aberdeen.sd.us to schedule your appointment.
- Please have a clear and direct path to your current water meter. Our service technician needs to be able to navigate safely in your home when they arrive to upgrade your water meter.
- Scheduling an Appointment:
- Please use our dedicated scheduling email: meterdivision@aberdeen.sd.us. Or call us directly at 605-626-2021 Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Our installation hours are Monday – Thursday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM and Friday, 7:30 AM-10:00 AM.

- When scheduling an appointment, we will ask for basic information such as your name, service address, residential or commercial status, ownership status (own/rent), preferred contact method, and preferred installation time (AM/PM, choice of days).

- You will need to be home during the installation process.
- New Features & Technology:
- The upgraded system will provide better accuracy and remote monitoring capabilities.
- After installation, you will receive instructions on how to register for the EyeOnWater app. For more details regarding eyeonwater please visit www.eyeonwater.com
- Project Timeline:
- Phase 1 begins in Spring 2025.
- To avoid fees please schedule your appointment within 45 days of receipt of this notice.
- If you cannot keep your regular appointment, please call to cancel within 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment.
