PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- South Dakota is making progress on improving teacher pay…but it isn’t easy going.

It’s been slow going since the review board was created ten years ago, with state teacher pay ranking at the bottom of the nation for several years.

This year, Caitlyn Scott of Marzano (mar-ZAN-oh) Research says there’s some good news.

Another bright spot…South Dakota’s lower cost of living allows teacher pay to go further than it does in surrounding states.
