Brown County Commission address ordinance dealing with wind projects

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)-  The Brown County Commission on Tuesday did a first reading on Ordinance 302 which would establish setback for various wind projects.

Scott Bader, County Planning and Zoning Director talks about what happened during the committee meetings.

Bader talks about how they establish the distances for both municipalities and landowner’s properties.

They agree to establish 1.5 miles for landowner properties and 2 miles for municipalities.

Invenergy Project Developer Michael Iacopetti commented on the ordinance the commission was voting on.

Commissioner Mike Gage inform Iacopetti that this for all wind project and not just isolated to Invenergy only.

The commission approved the first reading of the ordinance.  Invenergy are looking to establish wind farms near the Frederick area.
