Martin John Flottmeyer, 87, of Redfield, SD, loving husband of Marie Flottmeyer, went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2025. He was surrounded by his family.
Visitation, with family present, will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. A Scriptural Prayer Service with Reverend John Short officiating, Time of Sharing, and Rosary led by the Redfield Knights of Columbus, will begin at 7:00 p.m.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield. Reverend John Short will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Lunch and fellowship will follow in the church hall.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the Redfield Senior Center or St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Martin was born in Miller, SD, on December 13, 1937, to Anton and Freda (Weiss) Flottmeyer.
He graduated from Polo High School on August 19, 1955. He married Marie Levtzow. To this union, they were blessed with four children. Most of his adult life was spent in Rockham, SD on the farm, in Sioux Falls, SD, and Redfield. He was an alcoholic for the first 20 years, but was very proud to be sober over 40 years. Martin was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.
While living in Sioux Falls, he enjoyed doing snow plowing for five neighbors. He loved animals and always had a dog to love.
He is survived by his wife Marie and children: Kevin (Susan) Flottmeyer of Pierre, SD, Ron Flottmeyer (Cindy Brink) of Watertown, SD, Martia (Kevin) Siebrecht of Redfield, and Mel (Brenda) Flottmeyer of Piedmont, SD. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Justin (Melissa), Jesse (Whitney), Janelle (Tyson), Joanie (Chase), Shawn (Bryan), Ross, Randy, Madyson, Kayla (Dan,) and Mark (Rhonda); great-grandchildren: Devon, McKenzie, Ava, Natalie, Ivy, Preston, Caden, Jase, Connor, Garret, Isaac, Allie, Kai, and Lena; and great-great-grandchild Teagan.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Merlyn Flottmeyer, sister Mary Kathryn Teller, half-brother Myron Cotton, and half-sister Marge Faust.
