Kansas City, MO (NSUWolves.com) – Small College Basketball released their 2025 Hall of Fame Class last week with former Northern State University Wolf Eric Kline nominated. Kline joins 2017 inductee, Don Meyer in the SCB Hall of Fame and will be the first former Northern State student-athlete inducted.
“When you talk about the all-time greats of Northern State basketball, Eric Kline is a centerpiece of that conversation,” explained Nate Davis, NSU Director of Athletics. “He put together a stellar career as a Wolf and still has his name at the top of nearly every scoring category within the program. For Small College Basketball to recognize Eric’s achievements and induct him into their Hall of Fame is a testament to Eric’s legacy and impact on the game.”
“Watching Northern State University basketball from a young age and then getting a chance to play in my hometown of Aberdeen, South Dakota, means a lot to me,” said Kline. “Receiving a great education, while at the same time having an amazing student-athlete experience is what makes being a part of small college basketball so special. A deep appreciation to Coach Bob Olson, my teammates, Northern State University, and the community of Aberdeen for their encouragement and support over the years.”
Kline played three seasons for the Wolves from 1992-95 and is a member of the Northern State (2010), Northern Sun (2012), and South Dakota High School Basketball (2012) Hall of Fames. The Aberdeen native capped off his collegiate career as the 1995 NAIA Division II Player of the Year. In addition, he was a 3-time NSIC Player of the Year, 3-time NAIA All-American, and the 2015 South Dakota College Male Athlete of the Year. He led the nation in 3-point field goals made in 1993 and 1994. Kline and the Wolves advanced to the NAIA Final Four twice, finishing as the national runner-up in 1993-94. Northern went 88-16 in his three seasons on the roster.
Kline averaged 26.3 points per game for the Wolves in his career, setting the school record, and continues to hold school records in single game 3-point field goals made (11), single game 3-point attempts (23), single season points scored (958), single season points per game (27.5), single season field goals made (341), single season field goal attempts (670), single season 3-point field goals made (156), single season 3-point field goal attempts (393), career scoring (2,660), career 3-point field goals made (456), and career 3-point field goal attempts (1,089).
