Norma Jean Stolle was born on October 22, 1939, to William G. and Alice (Karlen) Stolle in Rural Frederick, SD. She grew up in Rural Hecla, SD. She attended school in both Columbia, SD and Hecla, graduating from Hecla High School in 1957. She furthered her education by attending Northern State Teachers College.
On November 20, 1959, Norma married Roland Moerke at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in rural Hecla. Together they made their home in Hecla, Groton, and Aberdeen. In 1971, Roland and Norma started their own business, Dakota Electronics, where Norma worked as the bookkeeper and performed many other important tasks. Throughout the 53 years Norma made important and lasting friendships. In May of 2024, Norma and Roland sold the business.
Norma took pride in her work ethic. She was very particular about how she wanted things to be done and held high expectations. She was feisty but very genuine. She enjoyed the outdoors and planted many trees and transformed a barren lot to an incredible yard and garden space. She had a special love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, and reading books. Her caring, gentle nature will be missed.
