ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- Representative Christopher Reder announced Thursday that he has resigned as legislator representing District 1.

Here’ is his resignation letter:

“Good afternoon, I am sending out this statement in reference to my decision I took this afternoon, to step down as the South Dakota House of Representatives, District #1 representative. This was not an easy decision but is due to personal and professional reasons.

I represented District #1 to the best of my abilities; I kept my promises and word that I ran on of how I would represent this district. My scorecards show I kept that promise. I read each and every bill personally, listened to my constituents, listened to testimony, researched and tried my best to make an appropriate decision on each topic that represented the best interests of the most voters possible. I did not “block vote” or be told how to vote, I voted only in the best interests of the constituents. I have been able to shed some light on things that maybe the average voter did not know about, the overspending and I hope, the transparency continues.

It was a pleasure to meet so many of the young adults that interned, paged and visited from schools all across District #1. They all had such great questions, and their parents should be extremely proud.

Appropriately as it is Military Appreciation Month, I reflect how I was blessed to be able to work hard with so many of our military members and proudly fought alongside them during this 100th Session. I was Honored to attend the unveiling of the new Capitol POW/MIA display in the Visitors Center. Also, when you enter the Capitol make sure and take in the Medal of Honor Display, and may the sacrifices of our Heroes never be forgotten.

Thank you to all who supported me during the campaign and this 100th Session, I hope everyone will understand this new direction and provide grace. I look forward to seeing many of you at the DTOM 22/0 Foundation’s Ranches as we continue to offer lifesaving equine therapy and deliver much needed food to Veterans Families in need.”
