OMAHA, N.E.(KELO)- Our regional manufacturing economy is slowing down…but still in positive territory.

That’s the main finding of the April Mid-America Business Conditions Index from Creighton University.

Creighton economist, Dr. Ernie Goss.

The Index includes a survey of manufacturing supply managers.

One of those managers described the uncertainty caused by tariffs paralyzing.

The impact of President Trump’s tariff policy is beginning to be felt in our regional economy.

Creighton University’s monthly Mid-America Business Conditions Index measures the manufacturing economy of the region.

Goss says manufacturing supply managers are mostly supportive of the tariffs, as they begin to feel the negative impact.

Many of the supply managers say the tariffs are painful, as they drive up manufacturing input costs.

But, they also say they’re needed to reset world trade with China.
