OMAHA, N.E.(KCCR)- The U-S Drug Enforcement Administration is recognized Fentanyl Awareness Day Tuesday with partners in the public health, law enforcement and community organization arenas. Emily Murray with the D-E-A’s Omaha office says they’re partnering to save lives.
Murray says two years ago, the Centers for Disease Control reported over 105-thousand deaths from synthetic opioids like fentanyl.
While the D-E-A is a partner in National Fentanyl Awareness Day, they do have their own awareness campaign titled the One Pill Can Kill campaign.
Murray says parents should have difficult conversations about the dangers of fentanyl even with young kids as soon as possible.
