Update on future of Brown County GOP

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Chair of the Brown County Republicans, Rich Hilgeman and Precinct Committee member Drew Dennert(Brown County Commissioner) appeared on KSDN Midday Report Tuesday to update the latest with the GOP.

Hilgeman talks about the status of him as one of the regional director for the South Dakota GOP.

One of the bills proposed in the session was eliminating vote centers and go back to voting by your precinct.  Dennert talked about his opposition to that.

Dennert reminds the people that they are the ones that decide the precinct people going to conventions.

Hilgeman express the importance of precinct people to represent Brown County in upcoming conventions.

Another bill proposed by the legislature was requiring the school boards to have party affiliations which didn’t pass.  Hilgeman was asked whether this should be applied to city councils.

Hilgeman offer his take on whether school boards should require party affiliation.

We moved on to defining being Republican and or being a RINO(Republican in Name Only), Hilgeman refered to the South Dakota GOP website.

Hilgeman doesn’t want to get involve with the word of RINO and believe each Republican are entitled to their own opinions.

Hilgeman express optimism toward the direction the party is going.

Dennert believes the Republican Party in South Dakota is very wide ranging party in the state.

Hilgeman reminds everyone that Aberdeen will be hosting the South Dakota GOP Convention in 2028.

The Brown County GOP hold their luncheon on the second Thursday of each month at the Pizza Ranch at 12pm and is open to the public.
