NSU Takes On Red Raider Invite [Day 1 of 2]

Orange City, IA (NSUWolves.com)– The Northern State University track and field teams opened their holiday weekend at the Red Raider Open on Wednesday recording 14 top-5 finishes. In addition, the Wolves captured four event wins from the first day of competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN
  • Two Wolves landed in the top-5 of the 5000m run, led by race winner Jacob Angerhofer with a time of 15:48.19
  • Nathan Alto took fourth in the 5000m with a time of 16:06.03, while Bailen Hayford placed eighth with a time of 17:04.91
  • Sam Tremelling led three Wolves in the top-6 of the pole vault, winning the event with a provisional mark of 4.95m on his second attempt of the height; he ranks in the top-20 nationally following the jump
  • Eli Radtke took second, vaulting 4.80m, while Issac Ligon took sixth with a 4.20m mark
  • Talan Lunders added a tenth place finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.05m
  • Kaden St. Pierre, Justin Jacobson, and Sam Kreins took second through fourth in the hammer throw, tossing 52.96m, 50.36m, and 50.34m
  • Ethan Barnett followed in the hammer, tossing 48.67m in sixth overall
  • For the third competition in a row, Carson Barnett broke the school record in the javelin, throwing 64.24m to win the event; the toss moves him into the top-15 nationally
  • Levi Reis was the runner-up in the javelin, throwing 59.57m, while Lunders and Jackson Willis took eighth and tenth with throws of 44.80m and 43.27m
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN
  • Romane Maugest led the Wolves women in the pole vault, finishing as the runner-up by judge’s decision with a 3.65m mark
  • Bekah Walz took third in the pole vault, jumping 3.50m, while Rainee Snyder and Makenna Glanzer took seventh and eighth with marks of 2.90m and 2.60m respectively
  • Olivia Ashley and Andi Mehrer placed seventh and eighth in the hammer, throwing 43.10m and 42.95m respectively, while Brooke Mushatt rounded out the top-10 with a 41.70m toss
  • Jordan West won the javelin, throwing 40.29m, followed by Macoya Hansen and Grace Kuch in third and fourth with throws of 38.70m and 36.34m

The Wolves return to action tomorrow in Orange City beginning at 9 a.m. with the multi events.
