ABERDEEN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – High school baseball is back Aberdeen & so is the Aberdeen Smittys offense.
The Aberdeen Smittys dominated Rapid City on Sunday night at Fossum Field in a doubleheader, winning 23-8 in game one & then 20-5 in game two.
It was a slow start in game one, as the Smittys trailed 3-0 after the first half inning, but didn’t waste any time getting back into the game with their dominant offense & a few errant pitches & passed balls by the Rapid City catcher.
The Smittys offense would explode for nine runs in the bottom of the third & then put up a crooked 10-spot in the bottom of the fourth for the run rule victory.
Michael Dutenhoffer went 3-4 at the plate with a pair of runs scored & 4RBI. Jehiel Aviles drove in four and was also 3-4 at the dish with two runs scored. Ridley Waldo also drove in three, in the effort.
In game two, the Smittys led 13-3 after the first inning and never looked back. Brayden Bowman picked up the victory on the hill, going two innings and scattered three hits, four earned runs and also struck out three. In relief, Donnie Soderlund fanned a pair of batters over two innings.
Jehiel Aviles & Karson Borge both drove in four runs and Jackson Ladner drove in three in the four inning run rule victory.
The Smittys open the season 2-0 & they’re back in action on Thursday in the capital city against Pierre.
