ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Wednesday, legislators representing Aberdeen appeared on KSDN Nightly Report to recap the 2025 session.  The program itself lasted for about two hours.

Each were asked for their overview of how the session went in general:

Senator Carl Perry:

Representative Brandei Schaefbauer:

Representative Al Novstrup:

We discussed one cut that didn’t occur this year which was SDPB.

Senator Perry talked about how his wife determined how he would vote on that.

Representative Schaefbauer talked about an occasion during the session where SDPB was biased against her which almost made her vote against the FY2026 bill.

Representative Novstrup backed up claims by Schaefbauer.  Novstrup also did support the final budget bill.

We also addressed bill primed by the legislators from their respective chambers.

Senator Perry discussed his bill looking to establish standard time in South Dakota year round that didn’t pass.

Representative Schaefbauer talks about her bill looking to protect women from men in changing rooms.  That bill(HB1259) has passed both chamber and awaiting decision by Governor Larry Rhoden to sign or veto.

Representative Novstrup looked to address allowing chaplains to be at public schools.  That bill was defeated on the floor of the South Dakota House.

Another story will address some philosophical takes from this year’s session.
