ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Governor Larry Rhoden made a stop in Aberdeen as part of the Open for Opportunity Tour. Governor Rhoden appeared on the Midday Report on KSDN.
Rhoden gave his overall thoughts on this year’s 100th legislative session.
Governor Rhoden brought into the 2025 Governors Cup Trophy that South Dakota won for the second straight year.
Governor Rhoden addressed a number of different issues during the interview. One was agriculture and Rhoden was talked about his trip to Washington, D.C. addressing ag issues.
Rhoden addressed his bill he presented to the South Dakota Legislature addressing property taxes.
One of the key bills for this region was the funding needed for the Richmond Lake Dam project. Governor Rhoden talked about how important this was for this region.
Another bill that could have an impact in our region was HB1052(No eminent domain for carbon oxide). Governor Rhoden hope this will force Summit Carbons Solutions to do a better job negotiating with landowners who are opposed to the project.
Another topic with bills addressing religion in relation to public schools. Rhoden was asked whether a line was established between the two. He commented on SB51 that would have required putting the Ten Commandments in all schools.
Rhoden was in Aberdeen Wednesday, and talked about his tour of Northern State University.
He also scheduled to make stops at ATEC Academey at Aberdeen Central & BAE Systems.
Rhoden talks about what he hopes to learn and apply going forward as governor.
