PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Legislature on the final day of their regular run of the session addressed two budget related bills.
The first one HB1046 which address the budget(one time funds) for the remainder of FY2025.
Representative Al Novstrup(a member of the Appropriation Committee this year) discussed details.
Novstrup addressed the money needed for the Richmond Dam project.
Novstrup also talked about money being transferred to the unclaimed property trust fund.
Representative Erik Mulkey of Sioux Falls was in favor of everything in the bill with the exception of the funding to the unclaimed property trust fund.
Muckey felt this was done for political reasons.
The bill passed the House on a 64-6 vote and passed the Senate on a 31-3 vote.
The other bill addressed was SB220 which funds or FY2026.
Senator Mark Lapka of Leola(Vice-Chair of the Senate Appropriation Committee) told them about money for the Big 3 in South Dakota.
Lapka discuss some of the money being put into various programs.
Lapka told them the overall cost of the budget.
The bill passed the Senate on a 34-1.
In the House Representative Mike Derby of Rapid City(One of the Chairs of the Joint Committee on Appropriations) told the House that SDPB will be fully funded.
Derby told the House that the budget is balanced for the next fiscal year.
The bill passed on a 59-11 vote. Both bills now head to the Governor’s desk for signatures.
