Branson, MO (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University softball team opened their 12-game spring break trip on Tuesday with a pair of wins over Northeastern State and Cottey College. The Wolves scored nine runs on 22 hits in the two wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. NORTHEASTERN STATE
- Northern scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to move back to .500 on the year
- They tallied four runs on 11 hits with one defensive error with Abby Rux tossing her third win of the season
- Rux threw six shutout innings for NSU, giving up three runs (two earned) on 11 hits with six strikeouts
- Northeastern led 2-0 through five complete, however the Wolves rallied back in the sixth and seventh with a pair of runs
- Emma Owens doubled in Aune Boben in the sixth, while Brooke Wolf (pinch running for Avarie Eagle) scored on a pinch hit single to left by Madi Jones in the seventh
- The Riverhawks grabbed one run in the top of the eighth via the international tie breaker
- NSU responded, tying the game on a single to center by Tevan Bryant, scoring Dessa Bryant who kicked off the inning on second
- Grace Humann came into run for Bryant and looped 180-feet around the bases to score the game winner on a single to left by Brooke Carlson
- Boben and Eagle led the team with two hits each, while Dessa Bryant, Owens, and Eagle each recorded a double

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. COTTEY COLLEGE
- Northern scored first with two runs in the top of the third off a sacrifice fly by Tevan Bryant (scoring Courtney Hennen) and single to center by Avarie Eagle (scoring Aune Boben)
- Cottey quickly responded, tying the contest in the bottom of the frame, however the Wolves were done
- Northern took the lead in the fourth and tacked on a one run in both the fifth and sixth innings
- Dessa Bryant doubled in Boben in the fourth, while Brooke Carlson scored Brooke Wolf on a single in the fifth and Tevan Bryant doubled in her sister in the sixth
- Boben threw the first win of her collegiate career, a complete game affair with seven strikeouts
- Dessa Bryant was perfect at the plate with four hits, including three doubles, followed by Boben with two hits and two runs scored
- Tevan Bryant led the team with two RBI and two walks
- In total, the Wolves tallied their five runs on 11 hits, leaving nine runners on base, with one defensive error
