Corrinne “Cookie” Arvella Rittal was born November 7, 1943, in Aberdeen, SD, to Jacob and Mary (Bertha) Rittal. She was raised in Aberdeen alongside five sisters and one brother. She attended Central High School and graduated in 1961. Not long after, she was introduced to her future husband, Dennis Walworth, on a blind date. They became married at Sacred Heart Church in Aberdeen on September 28, 1963, and eventually settled in Westport, SD, where they became lifelong residents.

Cookie worked as a nurses’ aid at St. Luke’s Hospital starting while she was still in high school and worked there until being forced to retire in 2000 due to her health. She loved her work at St. Luke’s and was proud of it. She also worked as a lifeguard and a model in her younger years.

Dennis and Cookie brought five beautiful children into the world: Genevieve “Jenny,” Dennis, Jodi, Julie, and Janel. Family was paramount to Cookie. It didn’t matter what the activity was or where it was at, Cookie was there supporting her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Whether it was camping, boating, skiing, playing cards and board games, or traveling, it was just important that she was with her family. She also loved to shop, sometimes stopping at the casino and working on projects with Dennis. Cookie loved to travel with Dennis before he retired. She was his co-pilot. Cookie kept an immaculate flower and vegetable garden and yard, and she loved to can her vegetables and was very talented at canning. In her younger years, when she was still able, she would crochet and needlepoint.

Cookie’s faith was central to her. She was a dedicated, lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Westport and was very involved with the Altar Society, among other activities at the church. Cookie’s faith guided her through some of the toughest moments in her life.

Cookie is survived by her husband, Dennis, of 61 years; children: Genevieve “Jenny” (Ward) Wilson of Mansfield, SD, Dennis Jr. (Nancy) Walworth of Frederick, SD, Jodi (Jeff) Brown of Aberdeen, SD, Julie (Steve) Goehring of Westport, SD, and Janel (Richard) Achen of Frederick, SD; grandsons: Joshua (Annie) Walworth, Jacob (Alicia) Voeller, Samuel Voeller, Stephen Achen, Derek Brown, Brennan (Shelby) Goehring, Trevor Goehring, and Hunter Walworth; granddaughters: Tiffany Pullis, Amyah Wilson, Kaylin Achen, Kalyce Achen, Karli Achen, Kamille Achen, Charlie Achen, Brooke (Brody) Leikvold, Brittany Johnson, Danielle (Felipe) Alfia, Katie (Jason) Ohlde, Jessica (Ryan) Pearson, and Megan Walworth; great-grandchildren: Jameson, Casey, Aybrum, Norah, Maddox, Laila, Aiden, Christian, Gabriel, Aria, Camila, Angela, Alexis, Noah, Nikita, Peter, Christopher, William, Jackson, Jasmine, Shaylynn, Kaylee, Aiden, Oscar, Luka, Nevaeh, and Nevan; great-great-grandchild Kahlil and three on the way; sister, Judy (Fred) Bohle; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Cookie was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Mary; five siblings: Cecille, Thomas, Shirley, Genevieve “Joyce,” and Patricia; and many other family members.
