Crossover day on Tuesday, update on bills District 3 legislators prime sponsored

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)-  Tuesday was Crossover Day at the South Dakota Legislature.  That the day where bills starting in their respective chamber must either be passed or failed by the end of the day.

Here’s an update on bills primed by members of District 3 and where they stand.

Senator Carl Perry:

Senator Perry primed sponsored five bills this year.

SB133(limit flouride in water)- was defeated on House floor on a 22-12 to not place on calendar.

SB134(provide limits on liability and damage caused by wildfire)- withdrawn

SB135(exempt motor vehicle insurer from title fees)- passed SD Senate 35-0

SB166(clarify digital network not subject cause of action by product liability)- passed SD Senate 34-0

SB186(established standard time in SD year round)- defeated 8-1 State Affairs Committee

Representative Al Novstrup: 

Representative Novstrup primed 3 bills.

HB1054(allow chaplains at public schools)- defeated in SD House on 49-18 vote

HB1055(modify medical cannabis certification requirements)- defeated in House Health & Services on 8-5 vote

HB1233(provide hearing aids to children)- withdrawn

Representative Brandei Schaefbauer:

Representative Schaefbauer primed 4 bills in the House.

HB1070(prohibit cost sharing for breast imaging exams)- defeated in House Health & Services on 11-2 vote

HB1259(“Bathroom Bill”)- passed SD House on 49-21 vote

HB1260(Sex mandatory on legal documents)- defeated in SD House on 35-35 vote

HCR6009(allow Attorney General to sue China over COVID)- passed SD House on 40-28 vote
