Wolves No-Hit To Wrap Up Trip In Kansas

Topeka, KS (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University softball team closed out their 5-game series at the Washburn Invite on Tuesday with a pair of losses to Fort Hays State and Washburn. The Wolves held a lead in game two, however a big sixth inning by the Tigers led to the loss. In game two, Northern was no-hit by the Ichabod ace.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. FORT HAYS
  • Fort Hays took an early lead with one run in the top of the first, however the Wolves responded with two in the bottom of the third
  • Aune Boben drilled a homerun to center field, scoring Addy Hobza who led off the inning with a single to right
  • FHSU added four runs on three hits in the top of the sixth, regaining the lead, and proceeded to hold the Wolves scoreless through their final two innings at the plate
  • Northern scored two runs on seven hits and did not give up an error, while Fort Hays tallied five runs on seven hits with two errors
  • Avarie Eagle led the team going 3-for-3 with a double, while Boben went 2-for-4 with the homerun and two RBI
  • Boben suffered her second loss of the season, giving up four earned runs on five hits with five walks and three strikeouts
  • Abby Rux threw the final 1.1 innings of action, giving up one earned run on two hits with a walk and a strikeout

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. WASHBURN
  • Washburn tallied their four runs on ten hits, scoring one in the first and three in the sixth
  • The Northern offense was unable to find a groove, being held hitless in the contest
  • Abby Rux started for the Wolves and suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs on ten hits with two strikeouts
  • Brooke Carlson was the lone base runner for NSU in the game, reaching on a walk in the fifth
  • Both teams played errorless defense in the match-up
