Aberdeen City Council address resolution dealing with establishing promotion fund procedures

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night, the Aberdeen City Council addressed a resolution dealing with establishing promotion fund financial administration policies and procedures.

Aberdeen Finance Director Jordan McQuillen discussed the purpose of the resolution.

McQuillen talks about the benefits of the resolution.

Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman discussed the issues of audits and the parameters that would be in place.

City Councilwoman Tiffany Langer expressed that there have been no concerns about the issue with fraud with any of the industries.

Aberdeen Downtown Association Executive Director Alexa Sheldon talks about money spent on the audit could be better used to help promote the city.

Aberdeen Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director Casey Weinmantel talks about helping other out with this resolution even though this wouldn’t have an impact on them.

City Councilman Rich Ward offered an amendment to the resolution to raise the minimum threshold from $100,000 to $125,000.

The council approved the amendment and the first reading of the resolution on 9-0 votes.  Second reading scheduled for Monday, March 3rd.
