House Agriculture and Natural Resources passes HB1165(

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee heard testimony on HB1165.  The bill provide a means by which an agricultural producer can reject the imposition of an assessment on crops.

Prime sponsor of the bill was Representative Spencer Gosch of Glenham.

Gosch explains the ways to option out of check offs.

The bill also featured a number of opponent testimony.  One of them came from former House Representative JD Wangsness.

Wangsness discuss how check offs have been successful for farmers and ranchers.

Gosch explains how the bill if passed can be beneficial to producers.

The bill passed out of the committee on a 9-4 vote and now moves to the House floor.
