SIOUX FALLS, SD (GoYotes.com) – For the fifth time this season, and fourth time in the last six weeks, South Dakota senior guard Grace Larkins has earned the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honor for her play last week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Larkins, hailing from Altoona, Iowa, broke her own school record, and in the process the conference record, for points in a game Saturday. In Fargo, Larkins scored 47 points on 17-of-27 shooting, adding 11 points at the free throw line, to break her school record of 45 points in a single game. The total also became the highest scoring total in a single game by a Summit League player, as the previous record was 46.
Larkins also recorded a double-double Thursday against Oral Roberts, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. For the week, she averaged 30 points and 9.5 rebounds and is now up to third in Division I in points per game at 24.8 points per game.
Larkins is closing in on some career scoring milestones. She needs just 33 points to become the third player to pass 2,000 career points in a Coyote uniform, 89 points to become second in USD history in scoring and 175 points to become the all-time leading scorer in USD history.
Larkins and the Coyotes have five games remaining on their regular season schedule, starting with Wednesday’s Pink Game against Kansas City. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
