PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Senate Health & Human Services Committee heard testimony Friday on SB 133. the bill repeal enforcement provisions and modify requirements related to the fluoridation of public water supplies.
Prime sponsor of the bill is Aberdeen’s Senator Carl Perry:
Perry discuss some of the health risk if you were to swallow fluoride.
Perry quotes candidate for U.S. Secretary of Health & Human Service Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Perry also discuss reports showing where flouride comes from.
Key group opposing this bill came mainly from the Dental industry. Paul Knecht, Executive Director of the South Dakota Dental Association dispute claims about where fluoride come from.
Knecht discuss the guidelines that need to be followed in terms of fluoride level in water.
Jenna Severyn, lobbyist for the South Dakota Dental Hygienists Association, talks about the benefits of fluoride toward healthy teeth.
The committee voted 6-1 to offer no recommendation on the bill to the U.S. Senate. Senate will soon vote on the bill once it reaches the floor.
