PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A bill moving through the South Dakota Legislature could force counties that use vote centers for elections to end their use.  Prime sponsor of Senate Bill 103 Senator Tom Pischke says votes centers are illegal and unconstitutional among other concerns.

Among opponents were county auditors, including auditors and finance officers that use vote centers.  Hughes County Finance Officer Thomas Oliva says e-pollbooks are not used for casting ballots.

Senator Chris Karr says concerns over the use of vote centers according to current laws trouble him.

A substitute do-pass motion was approved by the Senate State Affairs Committee on a five-three vote.

Brown County is among locations that use vote centers on election day.
