Rocky Hartberg, 71

Langford, SD: The graveside service for Rocky R. Hartberg will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, SD.

 

Rocky Ray Hartberg was born to Raymond and Ruth (Jordanger) Hartberg on September 12, 1953 at the Britton Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in rural Langford. Rocky attended country school near the family farm and graduated from Langford High School. Following graduation he went on to attend college at Northern in Aberdeen.

 

He lived in Minneapolis for a while before returning back to the farm to live with his brother Rodney. He remained on the farm until his passing.

 

His love of life was collecting antiques. He was an avid artist and loved painting and drawing pictures, which lead him to completing a comic series, Cole Black. He also loved fixing the house and planting flowers. For several years he worked at Walmart before his heath was failing. He enjoyed going to bingo and the casino with his mom, Ruth. They also traveled to Norway once together years ago. He enjoyed visiting with people.

 

Rocky R. Hartberg passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 at his home in rural Langford, at the age of 71.

 

He is survived by his sister, Rose Zakrzewski of Webster, SD and several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; grandparents; brothers, Ronald and Rodney; sister, Rita Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Robert Zakrzewski and Arnold Zakrzewski.
