The funeral service for Edward Bohlander, 92, of Aberdeen, SD, will be at 10:00am, Monday, February 3, 2025, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1112 South Main Street, with Deacon Jeff Swank, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Edward died Wednesday, January 29, at Bethesda Nursing Home, Aberdeen.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Sunday, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home.
Edward Bohlander was born January 21, 1933, to Edward and Mary (Heimbuch) Bohlander in Herreid, SD. He attended country school and graduated from Herreid High School in 1951. He served in the Army, was stationed in Germany, and returned to Aberdeen after being honorably discharged.
On May 27, 1960, Edward was united in marriage to Marilyn Theresa Raba at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen. They made their home in Aberdeen.
Edward belonged to the Elks and Moose Clubs, American Legion, and served on the board of directors for the Dacotah Prairie Museum. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Edward and Marilyn belonged to the Drift Busters snowmobile club and enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Roy Lake. He and Marilyn loved to travel and especially enjoyed taking bus tours. They were able to take their dream vacation to Germany.
Edward is survived by his three sons, James (Paula) Bohlander, Douglas, WY, Dan (Michelle) Bohlander, Douglas, WY, and Alan (Rickie) Bohlander, Britton, SD; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and another one arriving in June; two brothers; one sister; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Sandra; his parents; two sisters; and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the Dacotah Prairie Museum in Aberdeen.
