Senator Rohl present SB11 to the Senate State Affairs Committee

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- District 1 Senator Michael Rohl presented SB11 to the South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee on Wednesday.

SB11 limit the amount of money that a political committee may accept from an inactive candidate campaign committee.

Senator Rohl details what is the purpose of the bill.

Rohl talks about exactly what the bill does.

Rohl clarify that candidates can still use the funds after the elections have taken place.

Opposition to the bill came from Rachel Soulak, Director of Elections for the Secretary of State’s Office.

Soulak discuss some of the confusion that could happen if the bill is passed.

The committee passed the bill on a 7-2 vote.  The two opposing it were Senators Carl Perry & Tom Pischke.
