WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–Watertown police have arrested a Sioux Falls man who attempted to pass counterfeit money at a local business.

Captain Kirk Ellis says officers were called to a Watertown gas station last Wednesday on a report of a man who attempted to pass a fake $50 bill.

During their investigation, the suspect who passed the counterfeit money was determined to be 54-year-old Scott Robertson, who was staying at a Watertown motel.

On Friday, Robertson was located at the motel and was placed under arrest.

A search warrant was granted for Robertson’s motel room and vehicle. During the execution of the search warrant, more counterfeit bills were located along with two printers, color printer ink, fine watermarked printing paper, a paper trimmer, counterfeit license plate stickers, methamphetamine, digital scales, and drug paraphernalia.

Robertson is charged with Forgery, Possessing a Forged Instrument, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Place Where Drugs are Kept, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Substitute License Plates.

He’s being held at the Codington County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash-only bond.
