WASHINGTON, D.C.(HubCityRadio)- On Friday, NBC’s Meet the Press host Kristen Welker conducted an interview with the new Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota that aired on Sunday morning.
Welker asked Senator Thune about the tragic events that took place in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.
Thune was asked how this could impact confirmation hearings on various cabinet posts dealing with security.
Thune was asked about Kash Patel who is being pushed by President-Elect Donald Trump to run the FBI.
Welker moved on to the Southern Border issue. Senator Thune was asked about the issue of mass deportation being pushed by Trump.
Thune talks about the steps Congress is working on to achieve Trump’s goal.
Welker also talked about the debt which is now over $36 trillion. Thune was asked about etxending the 2017 tax cut that are set to expire at the end of the year. If approved, could add another $9 trillion to the deficit.
Thune believes the tax cut will lead to greater economic growth which will generate more revenue to the country.
Finally Welker was asked about Thune’s relationship for now with Donald Trump.
Senator Thune officially became the Senate Majority Leader for the 119th Congress last Friday.
