Charlean Martz, 77, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Avantara Groton.
A Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Father Gregory Tschakert presiding.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com. Services will be recorded and posted on Schriver’s website following the service.
Charlean Martz was born on September 13, 1947, to Julius and Lucia (Raba) Martz in Eureka, SD. She attended grade school in Bowdle and Hosmer. In 1964, she moved with her family to Aberdeen.
Charlean worked at the White Drug Cafeteria, Ranch Café, and the Star Light Café. She later did private housekeeping jobs and made her home in Aberdeen until 2020, when she became a resident at Avantara Groton. She was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was involved in the Altar Society Band #10 for many years. In her free time, Charlean loved to play bingo and listen to all types of music!
Charlean is survived by her brother, Larry Martz of Valley, NE; sisters Judith Guthmiller of St. Paul, MN, and Jane Rohrbach of Centerville, MN; several nieces and nephews; and her niece and guardian, Dory (John) Palmer of Blaine, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Diane Guthmiller.
