WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)- Watertown police say a Texas man faces charges for allegedly firing several gunshot rounds in the city following a verbal altercation Thursday night.
Police were called to the scene in southeast Watertown just after 10:30 p.m.
Witnesses say the person who fired the gunshots fled in a blue pickup.
Police quickly located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect, 19 year-old Jayveon Russell of Duncanville, Texas was arrested.
He’s charged with several counts that include Aggravated Assault, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Possessing a Loaded Firearm While Intoxicated, and DUI.
A search of the pickup revealed several loaded firearms, nine millimeter ammunition, open alcohol containers and marijuana.
Russell was booked into jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
The gunshots did not result in any injuries or property damage.
