The funeral service for Gloria M. Opp, 82, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:30am, Monday, November 25, 2024, at First Reformed Church, Aberdeen, with Pastor Hank Bowen officiating. The burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Gloria died Monday, November 18, at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:00pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Bethesda Home of Aberdeen or First Reformed Church Aberdeen .
Gloria M. Rohrbach was born on July 11, 1942 to Jacob and Irene (Fischer) Rohrbach in Eureka, SD. She grew up in Hosmer where she attended school and graduated from Hosmer High School in 1960.
On April 14, 1963, Gloria married Ferdinand “Ferdy” Opp and, together, they made their home in Aberdeen. Gloria and Ferdinand enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Gloria held various jobs throughout her life while also caring for the home. Most recently she worked at Hallmark before it closed.
Gloria cherished camping and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various events. She enjoyed baking, doing word searches, and playing bingo. She painted numerous dish towels and often gave them to family and friends as gifts. Gloria always had a positive attitude and, although she was often quiet, she was always friendly.
Grateful for having shared Gloria’s life are her children, Shelly (Larry) Pottebaum and Paula (Jeff) Casanova; grandchildren: Andy Pottebaum (Enya Savchenko), Nic (Michelle) Pottebaum, Aaron (Megan) Casanova, Noah (Jessica) Casanova; and Emilie Casanova; great-grandchild: Brynn Casanova; and brothers: Harlan Rohrbach and Robert (Sharon) Rohrbach, as well as numerous other special family members.
Preceding Gloria in death are her husband Ferdinand “Ferdy” Opp; parents: Jacob and Irene Rohrbach; daughter, Ann Opp; brother, Myron Rohrbach; and sister, Nancy Schlager.
