Creighton University’s Monthly Rural Mainstreet Index released today removes all doubt…the farm economy is in a recession.
The Index includes a survey of community bankers in a ten state region stretching from the Dakotas and Minnesota to Arkansas.
Economist Dr. Ernie Goss says it’s the 14th straight month of negative readings for the region…the worst we’ve seen since the pandemic…
Farmers are expected to lose money on the fall grain harvest, but Goss says things are slightly better for the livestock industry.
