James Rieck, 75

James Edward Rieck, 75, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen, with Father Gregory Tschakert officiating.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery following Mass.

A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at the parish hall.

Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct 17, at the mortuary.  Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com. Services will be recorded and posted on Schriver’s website following the service.

James “Jim” E. Rieck was born on July 6, 1949, in Aberdeen, SD, to Rudolph and Marie (Artz) Rieck. After graduating from Roncalli High School in 1967, he attended Northern State College.

Jim was united in marriage to Mary Ann Ness on May 29, 1971, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen. Together, they raised two sons: Randy and Jason.

Jim worked at Hub City for 44 years until his retirement in 2015. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors. He also was an avid runner and enjoyed participating in several local races. Jim had a hobby farm south of Aberdeen for many years, which he loved!

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; sons: Randy Rieck of Aberdeen, SD, and Jason (Jolene) Rieck of Bismarck, ND; granddaughter, Abigail of Bismarck, ND; sisters: Kathleen (Dave) Like and Janine (Dennis) Huber; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jim in death were his parents and two brothers, Ron and Richard.
