SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Carbon capture pipeline opponents struck out in the South Dakota legislature in the last two years, but they’re riding high on a State Supreme Court ruling that removes eminent domain power from the pipeline builder.
They also placed a Referred Law on the ballot…RL-21…that was intended to make a way for the pipeline to be regulated and built.
The “South Dakota Corn” marketing group is hoping the Referred Law survives the election challenge.
But, even if it fails at the polls, Executive Director Danita Murray says the pipeline could still be built.
Murray says the carbon capture system would provide a huge shot in the arm for the farm economy at a time it’s sorely needed.
