Illegal drug use up in Midwest

OMAHA, N.E.(KCCR)- The Drug Enforcement Administration battles illegal narcotics every day and rural parts of the country are not immune from their impact.  Emily Murray with the D-E-A’s Omaha Division which covers South Dakota says use of some drugs are increasing in the Midwest.

Murray says while drugs continue to flow into the region, overdoses are trending downward.

Murray says the D-E-A is doing what it can to cut off the flow of narcotics to rural America.

Murray says good working relationships with local, state and Tribal law enforcement are helping to overall goal of reducing access and availability of illegal drugs.
