Richard “Rich” Allen Biegler was born on May 29, 1951, in Aberdeen, SD, to Del and Phyllis (Meyer) Biegler. He attended O.M. Tiffany, Monroe Junior High, and graduated from Aberdeen Central High in May 1970. Following graduation, Rich attended Lake Area Vocational School in Watertown and took Building Trades and Drafting. He graduated from there in May 1972.

Rich was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Penny Friske, in August of 1971 in Aberdeen.

After completion of Building Trades, he and Penny moved back to Aberdeen, where he worked for Wangler Brothers and various other general contractors.

In May of 1976, they welcomed their only child, Matthew, into their lives.

In 1980, Rich started Biegler Construction. He was asked to build a miniature replica of Aberdeen’s Grain Palace. It can still be seen in many parades and events in Storybook Land. He also built many custom homes in the Ashwood and Rolling Hills developments. He could envision each home and built them according to his idea of the perfect home. He was proud to be a part of the building community in Aberdeen and valued the many relationships he made with his customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Rich enjoyed being with his grandchildren, taking them to Storybook Land or Twist Cone for an outing. He became involved with the Aqua Addicts Ski Club and was proud to be an integral part of the site at Dahme Lake. He was also involved with the Aberdeen Gymnastics Association and the move to a gym of their own. He loved his Lord at Trinity Lutheran Church and School and was involved with numerous building and other projects.

Rich is survived by his best friend and wife, Penny, of 53 years; son, Matthew (Becky) Biegler and their children Maddilyn, Levi, and Lucas; sister, Bunny (David) Carda; sisters-in-law Phyllis Biegler and Judy Biegler; Linda (Jay) Johnson, Sandi (Mike) Pederson, and brother-in-law Bob Friske, Jr.; and various nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his blended family of children and grandchildren, Alexa Moran and Melia Patterson; Nikki and Mary Coughlin-Julian and their daughters, Cadence and Christian; and Alison Hill.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Dennis and Jerry.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Trinity Lutheran Church and School or the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts.
