ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- District 1 House candidate Steven McCleerey(D) of Sisseton is looking to make a return back to the South Dakota Legislature. McCleerey represented District 1 from 2015-2020.

McCleerey is the only candidate running from the eastern portion of District 1 where the Sisseton-Oyate tribal lands are at. The tribal leadership currently has a ban on Governor Kristi Noem from appearing there. McCleerey was asked if that relationship could have an impact on the upcoming election.
McCleerey was asked how the ballot measures this November will impact the way he may legislate in 2025.
McCleerey during his time at the legislature was the House Minority Leader. If elected, he commented on whether he would seek leadership for the Democratic Caucus.
