Marty Allen Moran, born January 5, 1962, in Wahpeton, ND, to Tobias and Claudette (Taylor) Moran, brought light into the world with his big heart, sense of humor, and passion for music. Raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Marty was the second of four children and a graduate of Central High School. He later attended Northern State University, where he received his degree in accounting. His infectious laugh and love for life touched everyone around him.

In high school, Marty worked at the Elks Lodge, where he met the love of his life, Bernadette ‘Bernie’ Schares. They married and built a family with three children: Amber, Sam, and Matthew. The bond between Bernie and Marty endured, even after their paths diverged.

Marty’s career with Indian Health Services as an accountant and supervisor was marked by dedication and accolades. Toward the end of his career, he worked in Minnesota but returned home to Aberdeen to be there for his son, Matthew, and to lovingly care for Bernie after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

An avid outdoorsman, Marty enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and cheering on his beloved Minnesota Vikings and Twins, even when it wasn’t easy. He was a handyman, always working on projects around the house and helping his neighbors. Above all, Marty was known for his unwavering love for his children and family and his love for music.

Marty is now reunited with his best friend, his father, Tobias ‘Toby,’ and the two are surely fishing and hunting together once more. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Marty is survived by his mother Claudette Moran of Aberdeen, SD; children Amber (Jordan) Daughters of Sioux Falls, Samuel Moran of Aberdeen, SD, and Matthew Moran of Brookings, SD; sisters Beverly Moran of Albuquerque, NM and Valerie Moran of Albuquerque, NM; brother Mike (Francine Fast Horse) Moran of Aberdeen, SD; Nieces and Nephews: Edward Molnar (Beverly Moran), Carli Christians (Valerie Moran), Andrea Thompson (Beverly Moran), Zayne Fast Horse (Mike Moran); and grandchildren: Lincoln and Piper Daughters (Amber Daughters)

He is preceded in death by his father, Toby Moran, and Grandma Claire Taylor.
