South Dakota leaders response following shooting for former President Donald Trump

(HubCityRadio)- On Saturday, at a rally in Butler, P.A., former President Donald Trump was injured following an apparent assassination attempt on his life.  Trump was taken to a hospital with blood near his right ear where reports are the bullet grazed him and was later released.  South Dakota leaders went on X(formerly Twitter) to offer their reactions to what happened.

Senator John Thune:

“Like most Americans, I was shocked and angered by today’s attempted assassination of President Trump. It is encouraging to hear that President Trump is going to be okay. He remains in our prayers, as do the deceased and injured and their families. We are profoundly grateful for the heroism and sacrifice of our law enforcement personnel.”

Senator Mike Rounds:

“Praying for former President Trump and those in attendance at tonight’s rally in Pennsylvania. Anyone involved in this attack must be held accountable.

Relieved to hear that the former President is doing well. Incredibly sad to hear of the rally attendee who was killed. Continuing to pray for those in attendance and the families of those killed and injured. Thank you to all of the first responders.”

Congressman Dusty Johnson:

“Praying for President Trump.”

Governor Kristi Noem:

Governor released an emotional video.  Here’s what she said.


The FBI has identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, P.A.  Secret Service agents fatally shot Crooks, who attacked from an elevated position outside the rally venue at a farm show in Butler, Pennsylvania, the agency said.

Trump is scheduled to deliver his acceptance speech for the Republican nomination for President on Thursday Night in Milwaukee, W.I.
