Joleen “Jo” De Lehman was born on March 22, 1966, to William and Mary Lou (Pundsack) Lehman in Faulkton, SD. The family moved all around the state when Jo was growing up, and she attended many schools in the northeast South Dakota area.

Eventually, Jo moved to Aberdeen and has made it her home ever since. Jo met Kyle Christman in 1983 while pregnant with her son, Kris. Kyle and Jo brought three more children into the world: Chip, Dustin, and Willie. Jo was a dedicated mother to her four children and did whatever was necessary to give them the best life possible. Jo and Kyle later separated, but they always deeply cared for each other and remained close.

Jo was a caregiver through and through, not just for her children and nieces and nephews but for everyone she helped throughout her career as a CNA and caregiver for several facilities in the Aberdeen area. She especially loved her job at Aspire and made many long-lasting relationships there.

It was no secret that Jo loved Elvis. She had many favorite songs of his, especially “Love Me Tender.” Jo also loved watching cooking and detective shows on TV and enjoyed sharing her cooking and baking skills with everyone. The center of Jo’s life were her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews. They brought her immense joy, and they have many cherished stories and memories of Jo.

Grateful for having shared Jo’s life are her children Kris (Nancy) Lehman of Chaska, MN, Chip Christman of Aberdeen, SD, and Willie Christman of Circle Pines, MN; five siblings: Laura Hartley, Coleen Freeman, Joseph (Renae) Lehman, Ben Lehman, and Travis (Neely) Lehman; four grandchildren: Tyson, Aiden, Chase, and Daniel; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; and many friends and extended family. Jo will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Lou; one son, Dustin; and three siblings: Bill Lehman, Linda Switzenberg, and Ed Lehman.
