Bruce Berg, 67, Redfield, SD, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Community Memorial Hospital Avera in Redfield, SD surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. The family will be present to accept condolences.  The rosary and prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield. Reverend John Short will officiate.

Bruce was born to Carl and Mary (Olding) Berg on March 11, 1957, at Redfield Community Hospital. He weighed 2 pounds 14 ounces at birth making him the smallest baby to be born in Redfield.

He attended Redfield High School and graduated in 1976. From there, he went on to attend Pipestone Area Vo-Tech for meat-cutting. While attending college, he worked at Hank’s Grocery Store. After returning home, he started work at Starter’s Bowling Alley until he began working at Farmer’s Meat Market in Redfield. It was there he would retire from due to health issues.

In 1991, Bruce married Julie Ann Otto at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Redfield. From this union, they would welcome three daughters, Tiffany, Hailey, and Kasey. Bruce enjoyed going to his daughters’ activities along with bowling and fishing.

Bruce followed in his uncle Tony’s footsteps as a member of the Redfield Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

Bruce was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield.

Bruce is survived by his wife Julie, his daughter Tiffany (Lonnie) Lambertus, and their children Hattie and Harvey of Garvin, MN; Hailey Berg and her children Sylvia, Orion, Dorian of Slayton, MN; and Kasey (Will Watros) Berg and their children Valerie and Caydran of Mancelona MI; mother-in-law Elvera Bierman; in-laws Connie Berg, Michelle (Richard) Wilson, Kelley (Denise) Penfield, and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Carl, brother Thom Berg, nephew Evan Berg, father-in-law Dale Penfield, and step-father-in-law Rodger Bierman.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for monetary donations to help offset the cost of medical and funeral expenses.
