PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Aberdeen City Ordinance prohibits the use of fireworks within the city limits with the exception of sparklers, snakes, and other fireworks that do not have an audible report, projectile, or launching component.
While sparklers are legal in Aberdeen, they are the biggest danger to children. The temperature at the end of the sparkler reaches 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit and can easily cause severe burns. Kids and fireworks can be a dangerous combination.
Here are some tips to help keep your holiday safe:
Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks.Use only fireworks purchased from a licensed retailer. Homemade or altered manufactured fireworks are not only dangerous but also illegal.Read and follow all warnings and instructions.Please be sure to check weather conditions prior to ignition.Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.Light fireworks only on a smooth, flat surface away from buildings, dry leaves, combustible and flammable materials.Never try to relight fireworks that have not fully functioned (“duds”).Have means of extinguishing (garden hose, water buckets, sand, fire extinguisher) readily available for use, should a fire occur.Extinguish fireworks by soaking them with water before disposing of them in the trash.If a burn to the skin does occur, cool the burn with lots of cool water and seek medical attention.The post Aberdeen Fire reminds citizens which fireworks allowed within city limits appeared first on Hub City Radio.
