PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Pierre City Commission has approved a change order to add features to a new Airport Rescue and Firefighting truck under construction. Airport Manager Brian Cowels says the change order will add features for safety and usability.
The second add-on would help firefighters on the ground at an airplane crash.
The third and final change would add an improved radio system.
While the vehicle is being funded largely by federal funding the changes are not being supported by the FAA.
The cost of the change order is just over 12-thousand dollars and the city is seeking state fuel tax funds to cover the cost.
