SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Another stark warning from Sioux Falls police…street racing is not only illegal, it is sometimes deadly.

That’s the case in the fatal motorcycle accident on the city’s northeast side early Wednesday.

Lieutenant Andrew Siebenborn says at least two motorcycles were involved in the race…which was being watched by a number of spectators.

35 year old Anatoliy (an-uh-TOE-lee) Manuylo (man-OO-low) of Valley Springs hit a parked car while driving his motorcycle at over 100-miles an hour.

Police Chief Jon Thum says new laws and tougher penalties are needed.

Chief Thum says his department has devoted more patrols to deal with the problem, but they still can’t cover the entire city all of the time
