Janice Myren, 82

Janice Rae (Scott) Myren, 82, passed away on August 16, 2023, in Mesa, Arizona.

A Graveside Committal Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Black Hills National Cemetery, 20801 Pleasant Valley Drive, Sturgis, SD.

Janice Rae Scott was born on April 4, 1941, to Lloyd Scott and Nadine (Curts) Scott in Geddes, SD.  During her school years, her family relocated multiple times yearly to accommodate her father’s employment as a heavy equipment operator.  She was the first of her family to graduate from high school (Moffat County High School in Colorado in 1959).  She was a role model for her three younger brothers (Gary, Danny, and Terry), who all graduated from high school.  She established a tradition followed by her children and grandchildren.

It was love at first sight (for both) when she and Clayton “Dale” Myren met.  They were married two weeks later and were inseparable for the next 55 years until Dale died in 2018.  They started their married lives as farmers.  They relocated to Hoven, S.D., where Dale became the administrator of the Holy Infant Hospital.  Later, they moved to Mobridge, SD, where they remained until they retired in 1990.  Then, the real adventure began.  They bought a pickup and camper/trailer and traveled the country for nearly thirty years before settling in Mesa, AZ.  No experience was too challenging.  They took several cruises across the globe.  One cruise took them far to Alaska, from which they returned (along with a group of friends) on their Honda Goldwing motorcycle.  They traveled tens of thousands of miles on their motorcycle throughout the United States.

Jan was a dedicated Mother and homemaker.  However, she also worked as an administrative assistant at an insurance agency and a customer representative at United Parcel Service.  At 100 pounds soaking wet, she was probably not everyone’s image of a member of the Teamsters Union.

There was nothing Jan would not do for her two children, Shauna Myren Fitzgerald and Scott Myren.  She and Dale were immensely proud of the achievements of their children and grandchildren (Teague Fitzgerald, Keegan Fitzgerald, Tessa Myren, and Isabel Myren).  She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents Lloyd Scott and Nadine Scott, and her daughter Shauna Myren Fitzgerald.
